Hacked Thunder:

Me testing my new CUSTOM build of Citra on Pokemon Moon. It is running it with ALL MUSIC and Controller Support. It is also Scaled to 1080p with some added features to clean up the graphics. Performs the same with Pokemon Sun, it looks AWESOME!

I cannot add the in game music, so as stated at the start, it has been removed. Nintendo will auto block it if they detect Nintendo or even Pokemon music being played. Music has been replaced with royalty free music. Details in credits!

Please do not ask for this build. It is custom so it has NO NAME. Its made of of publically released branches of Citra which have been compiled to make this version. It includes files and code that is protected by Nintendo and Pokemon included in the make up of the Emulator to make it work. Without it, its useless so if I delete it it will not work. If I include it the video will be taken down and I will have legal and platform issues. :( For the current licensing and respect I have for Citra, again I cannot share.

But this build is all done using publically available code and I am sure will be in the Citra Public release VERY soon! If you are despo then GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND. There are lots of builds for Citra and some in fact much better than what I have made here. Those of you who have followed me will know I always share and help as much as I can. But as Nintendo are so protective over this franchise, I CANNOT SHARE!

So here's the deal with getting this game to run... I tried it on multiple builds, but most of them had major issues getting the game to work.

- The last few official Bleeding Edge builds (as of 11/18/2016) run it faster than in this video, but they freeze during the intro right before you get to play. You can use a save file right after this point, but the game still freezes a TON all over the place.

- The last few unofficial Chinese CPU JIT builds (the latest release is 09/24/2016) state that The SD Card couldn't be recognized. I tried deleting saves, using saves from other builds, etc... but nothing I did could get me past this error. Perhaps someone knows of a workaround?

- The build that I actually got working (and what I used for this video) is one I found on Hacked Thunder's YouTube channel called Citra Speed V2 (Intro Fix). I'm not really sure what's different about this particular build, but I got no freezing with Pokemon Sun and Moon, and I played both for about 40 minutes each. The game runs a bit slower than newer builds, but as I mentioned above, the newer builds freeze/crash A LOT. Here's the video that has download links and more info:

BLACK LINE FIX INFO:

By default, right now Citra leaves behind a lot of pesky black lines in Pokemon Sun/Moon when certain textures are on the screen. There is a fix though by way of using a cheat. Once you have the game running in Citra, go to Emulation - Cheats... then click Add Cheat and enter the following:

Name: Black Line Removal
Type: GateWay

Click OK.

Then under Details copy/paste the code below:

1041B748 0000F000
1041B74A 0000E320
D2000000 00000000

Once done, hit Save and restart the game. No more black line issues! Note that on newer builds of Citra, I couldn't ever get the cheat to stick (when I hit Save it would just disappear). If you are trying to use a new build and are having the same issue, copy and paste the .txt for the game under your Citra install directory/user/cheats on the build I'm using in this video into the same location for your newer build.

Citra is currently available for Windows, Linux, and Mac (OS X). Hopefully one day it will be available for Android and iPhone / iPad devices as well. All my Citra videos are running on Windows 10 64-bit. Also, all of my Citra videos show the games running in real time--no edited speedups or anything like that.

Notes about Citra: At this point in its development, Citra is still a very early and experimental emulator. Quite a few games run fairly well now in large part thanks to the recent implementation of the CPU JIT compiler, but there are a lot of graphical and audio issues. Basically, don't expect it to run games perfectly.

To prevent Citra from running above 60 FPS, enable V-Sync under Emulation - Configure - Graphics within Citra.

this is like my previous video on citra but unlike the previous video this one has two updated hacks. Again it will depend on how good your computer is but those on a less fortunate computer can still run it pretty smoothly.

Have you played pokemon on citra and notices those annoying lines and out lines you get? Well I'll show you how to fix that and make pokemon look better and more crisp than ever.

1. Download OBS, its a recording software


2. Make sure you have a citra build, weither offical or unofficeal, that you like using. I used the most recent chinese build 9-24-2016

3. Set OBS to record at 1 FPS since you dont want OBS bottle necking citra and making it even slower. I show you In the video. (BTW this method isn't great for recording your gameplay if you dont have a decent PC) If you want to record than use a recording FPS value like 30 or 60.

4. You dont need to press start recording on OBS just make sure OBS can see citra by selecting the + button under sources and selecting game capture and then select record specific window and then find the citra window that the game is on. I show you how in the video.

1. Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and cannot be used anymore.
2. I can only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else, unless I have already caught a Pokemon in that evolution line before (this is dupes/species clause).
3. Static encounters are counted as separate from normal encounters (a normal encounter is one you find by walking around in grass/a cave etc)
4. I must Nickname every Pokémon I capture.

This is a video showing how Pokemon Sun and Moons looks without outlines around characters or Pokemon on real hardware.

Shiny Quagsire and TiniVi figured out how to remove the lines, and I made it into a .code patch and rebuilt it as a 3DS file and a CIA file.

This FPS Improvement wont apply for everyone, I just found about it an hour ago, and decided to make a video to help out the others.
In short: go to your gpu settings program, and disable Vertical syncronization.

I bet you guys haven't seen a Pokemon Sun Let's Play before! In all seriousness though, I know a lot of people have been playing through Sun/Moon, and I thought that, since I was already going to be recording footage of everything, I might as well do a LP too!
