    2:54

China to Launch TYW 1 Military Drone to International Market in 2018
China is planning to introduce a new unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the TYW-1, for military purpose to the international market next year.Dubbed as a strike-capable reconnaissance UAV, the TYW-1 is scheduled to make its maiden flight this September and will be launched by 2018, Wang Jianping, deputy general manager and chief designer from Beihang Unmanned Aircraft System Technology, told IHS Jane.Wang said that the company is eyeing the markets in neighboring countries such as Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Chinese military UAVs, which have been deployed in the Middle East, have seen increasing demands. The TYW-1 is an unmanned system for surveillance and combat based on the BZK-005, used by China's People's Liberation Army. It could also patrol Chinese territorial waters, indicating a possible deployment in the East and the South China Sea, according to Daily Caller.Meanwhile, drone developer China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation is also producing CH-4, another combat drone used in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan. On the other hand, the Chengdu Aircraft Design and Research Institute also developed the Wing Loong.China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, the biggest Chinese missile maker, is also producing a stealth military drone that could evade radar and anti-aircraft weapons. It also developed high-speed, cruise missile-like WJ series drone.
As military reforms are drastically changing armed forces around the world, drones have become an indispensable weapon in modern warfare because they can play an important role in high-resolution reconnaissance, long distance precision strikes, anti-submarine operations and aerial combat, Wei Yiyin, CASIC's deputy general manager, said.Disclaimer- The fact and story in this video is taken from various news agencies . US Navy ONR demonstrations of the LOCUST project-swarming UAVs

    1:09

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has revealed that it has been conducting demonstrations of swarming unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at various locations over the past month. The demonstrations were part of the Low-Cost UAV Swarming Technology (LOCUST) program, which is developing quick launching UAV swarm technology to overwhelm adversaries.

The LOCUST system consists of a tube-based launcher that is able to get multiple drones airborne in quick succession. ONR says the small size of the launcher and the drones themselves means the system can be used to launch UAVs from ships, tactical vehicles, aircraft, or even larger unmanned platforms.

China successfully tests new stealth drone Sharp Sword

    50

Originally published on November 26, 2013

China has successfully tested its first stealth combat drone, known as Lijian or 'Sharp Sword' on Thursday (November 21).

It was reported that the test flight lasted for 20 minutes and was carried out in a testing base in southwestern China.

The Lijian reportedly has a wingspan of 14 meters, smaller than the U.S. Navy's X-47B, which has a wingspan of 19 meters. It is powered by a single jet engine, presumed to be the Shengyang WP7 based on the design of turbojet engine Tumansky R-11. It is estimated that the Lijian's ordinance payload might not exceed 2,000 kg. The Chinese CM-506 small-diameter bomb, which has a range of 130 km against land or maritime targets, is said to have been recommended for the Lijian.

The drone is also said to be similar to the X-47B drone being tested by the US Navy as well as France's experimental Neuron project.

China has been developing stealth aircraft in recent years, including J-20 and J-31 stealth fighter jets.

    China showcases latest space developments

    5:15

    (2 Nov 2016) LEAD IN:
Manned space flight, moon probes and landing on Mars are all on the bill at this year's China Airshow.
China has been showcasing its latest series of space achievements at the show and says it is set to launch it's first landing mission to Mars in 2020.

    STORY-LINE
China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) is showing off its latest achievements at the Chinese annual air show in the southern city of Zhuhai.
Manned space flight, moon probes, Mars exploration, high resolution satellites and the Beidou navigation system are among the highlights.
Models of China's Long March series of rockets are also on display.
The Long March 5 heavy-thrust cluster rocket is by far the largest carrier rocket China has, with a loading capacity up to 25 tonnes. It will have its first launch some time in November.
CASC says the new Long March rockets use non-toxin and non-pollution propellants in hydrogen-oxygen and LOX-kerosene engines which wont pollute the environment.
The country is developing moon and Mars probes and, according to CASC, will soon launch new unmanned landing vehicles to both surfaces.
Next year the Chang'e 5 space ship will send a landing vehicle to the moon to pick up samples of the surface before returning to Earth.
And in the year 2020 China will launch its first Mars exploration spaceship.
It will take six months after the launch for the space ship to arrive above the Mars and release the landing facilities.
This combination of facilities will be expected to conduct exploration of the physical water-ice atmosphere composition, earth composition, electromagnetic field and other physical features on the surface of the Mars, says Tao Zhuo, a designer from CASC's space technology academy.
Also on display is China's newly developed high resolution satellite.
Rolling on a geostationary orbit 36,000 kilometres above the earth, the High Resolution 4 satellite is able to conduct continual surveillance over an area as large as 7000 kilometres square.
This satellite is able to conduct continual surveillance over an area as large as 7000 kilometres times 7000 kilometres of our country and areas beyond. It meets the demands for the data of high-time resolution rate and mid-high-spatial resolution, says Chen Zhuoyi also a designer from the Chinese Academy of Space Technology.
CASC is also displaying a system to capture the information from multi satellites in space and coordinate their assignments.
This system can present all our satellites rolling on their courses and in the meantime offer resolutions to how to make these satellites work together. There are more and more demands for this. Usually satellites are given their assignment separately, but with this system we are able to make comprehensive arrangements and coordinative dispatch of assignments among different satellites, says Yin Jianfeng, another designer from the Chinese Academy of Space Technology
In September, China launched its TG-2 space laboratory into orbit with two astronauts.
A model of the space laboratory is on display, together with a real piece of the return capsule of the Shenzhou space ship.
Peter Tang, a specialist in Aeronautic and Astronautic Materials and Structure, says:
The Chinese have a unique method of making plans for aerospace exploration which is different from the current ones of other nations. We can see high capability and creative thinking, we can see products that are lighter than others. Also there is another unique point: their plans are cheaper than others and save a lot of investments.
Since 2000 China has launched 16 Beidou navigation satellites to cover the Asia-Pacific regions.
It's intended that by the year 2020 the system will cover the whole world.

    Ehang 184, a Chinese One-man Drone

    4:58

Is the world of autonomous single-passenger drones just over the horizon? A Chinese company called EHang made a splashy announcement at CES promising just that.
The vehicle weighs 440 pounds. The estimated cost is anywhere from $300,000 to $400,000. Its battery, however, lasts a rather humble 23 minutes, or about 10 miles, and there are many skeptical opinions about its safety in the landing scheme.

Pakistan May Buy Chinas CH-5 Armed UAV

    2:58

this video shows you that Pakistan May Buy China's CH-5 Armed UAV.
China has allowed the export of an unmanned combat drone that can carry between 16 and 24 air-to-surface mi$$iles at a time and stay in the air for 60 hours at a stretch.
The export licence for the CH-5, the latest from the Caihong family designed by the state run China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics, comes as Beijing seeks to expand the international sales of its military drones, which already extends to 10 nations. Several nations have expressed intentions to purchase the CH-5, said Shi Wen, chief designer of the Caihong, or Rainbow, at CAAA.
Shi said the CH-5 was better than the American MQ-9 Reaper because it surpasses the latter's flight duration and operational efficiency. He added that the CH-5 could operate at an altitude of up to 10 km and fly as far as 6,500 km. An upgrade would enable it to fly up to 10,000 km, he added. The CH-5 is capable of a joint strike with its predecessors, the CH-3 and CH-4, because they can share the same data link and control system, Shi said.
Pakistan, which faces an urgent need to deal with terr0rists, may buy CH-5, which might persuade India to expand its drone capability, observers said. Pakistan and Iraq are known to have used Chinese drones to target militants. Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE, Nigeria and Somalia imported the CH-3 and CH-4.

China presents new killer drone ‘more efficient & powerful’ than American Reaper (VIDEO)

Beijing says it is ready to export its brand new CH-5 drone across the world, after the UAV, which it claims has superior tech specs to equivalent US models, was officially introduced at the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition in Zhuhai.

READ MORE: Drone operator job ads suggest US military is flying kill missions from Britain

The CH-5, which was keenly awaited after a video of its maiden flight was broadcast by Chinese networks last year, can perform whatever operations the MQ-9 Reaper can, and is even better than the US vehicle when it comes to flight duration and operational efficiency, said Shi Wen, chief designer of the CH series at China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics, to local media ahead of the exhibition.

The drone has a wingspan of 21 meters – twice as big as its predecessors in the series – and can stay in the air for 60 hours. It has a maximum range of 6,500 km, which Shi says will soon expand to 10,000 km and 120 hours of flight, giving it the longest range of all hunter-killer drones. It will also carry about 1,000 kg of equipment and up to 24 missiles.

In comparison, the MQ-9 Reaper, which has been in service since 2007, can fly for 27 hours, and has a wingspan of 20 meters (though a bigger model with longer flight time is currently being tested). The difference is explained by China’s choice to use a less powerful but more fuel-efficient engine.

China says that it is ready not only to export the drone, but also to license the technology to make it.

Several foreign nations have expressed intentions to purchase the CH-5, and we are in talks with them, Shi said.

According to Shi, previous CH iterations have been exported to over 10 countries, and are currently used by Iraq, Nigeria and Egypt.

Another advantage is that the CH-5 is capable of making a joint strike together with its predecessors, the CH-3 and CH-4, because they can share the same data link and control system. Therefore, it is very easy for current users of the CH-3 and CH-4 to introduce and integrate the CH-5 into their drone network, Shi boasted.

Shi said that the drone will suit all countries fighting “terrorists” across the Middle East, but said that China was not just planning to flood developing countries with cheaper knock-offs, but to become technological leaders in the rapidly-growing industry.

We may be a little inexpensive, but we do win by our reliability, not our lower price, Shi said.

    Change 5 Wows Zhuhai Airshow

    2:01

The model of China's lunar probe Chang'e 5 wows the ongoing China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China)in Zhuhai City of south China's Guangdong Province.

Probe Chang'e 5 will be sent to the moon and return with lunar samples in the second half of 2017, the third stage of China's lunar exploration endeavor.

It will be the first time a Chinese probe to land on the moon, collect samples and return to Earth.

The lunar probe consists of four parts, namely, lander, ascender, reentry module and orbiter.

How to keep the lunar soil intact to make sure the precision of analysis by scientists despite of the influence of high temperature, humidity and air when it goes through atmosphere? As the soil enters the Earth at the second cosmic velocity, which is much higher than that of other Shenzhou space crafts, we adopt new technology similar to skimming a stone on water to make it reenter the earth and slow down its speed, said Zhou Zuoxin, head of the scientific research and production department of the Fifth Academy of the China Aerospace science and technology Corporation.

According to experts, the work on lunar probe Chang'e 5 is in smooth progress despite of many difficulties.

Termite swarm drones, US Armys smart rifle and China rover isnt dead - This is REAL Genius

    1:50

This week on 90 Second Science, we kick off with the unveiling of a swarm of termite inspired drones by Harvard University. The robots operate as a swarm, using their environment and a very basic design plan to work together to build huge, complex structures without any human help. Next, we look at the US Army's field testing of the TrackingPoint smart scope, which stops a rifle from firing unless it will definitely hit a marked out target. Finally, to the moon, where China's Jade Rabbit rover might not be as dead as we first thought.
