  • Deepest Hole in The Ocean! Saltstraumen

    2:13

The Saltstraumen has the strongest tidal current in the world. Up to 400,000,000 cubic metres (520,000,000 cu yd) of seawater forces its way through a 3-kilometre (1.9 mi) long and 150-metre (490 ft) wide strait every six hours, with water speeds reaching 22 knots (41 km/h; 25 mph). Vortices known as whirlpools or maelstroms up to 10 metres (33 ft) in diameter and 5 metres (16 ft) in depth are formed when the current is at its strongest. The Saltstraumen has existed for about two to three thousand years. Before that, the area was different due to post-glacial rebound. The current is created when the tide tries to fill the Skjerstadfjorden. The height difference between the sea level and the fjord inside can be up to 1 metre (3 ft 3 in). When the current turns, there is a period when the strait is navigable.

    Description:
With water covering 70% of the Earth’s surface, it’s no wonder that oceans yield spectacular species, with scientists finding up to four new species a day, according to the World Register of Marine Species, or WoRMS. They add that there are also approximately 228,450 marine species known to scientists with some two million more multi-celled marine organisms still to be discovered. The ocean is also home to other phenomena including giant beached whales, bioluminescence – when water appears to be glowing - and the yearly migration of millions of red sea crabs on Christmas Island, stopping drivers and pedestrians in their tracks. Seahorses continue to fascinate people time and again, not only for their combination of a norse-like head with S-shaped bodies but also because of what’s seemingly a reversal of roles in the natural world i.e. the male having to do the “pushing.” Rogue waves are an amazing phenomena that could have deadly consequences too, engulfing ships and fishermen in its wake. Short-tail stingrays are also considered to be dangerous. The death of Australian wildlife expert Steve Irwin, “The Crocodile Hunter,” by a sting ray brought the species to prominence in 2006 but in reality, that was a freak occurrence that happens on extremely rare occasions. Sea pens and glass squid appear to go hand in hand, although neither are what they seem. Underwater, famed French marine explorer Jacque Costeau once said “When one man, for whatever reason, has the opportunity to lead an extraordinary life, he has no right to keep it to himself.” Such is the inspiration by marine biologists, sailors, and regular people alike to continue to explore life under water. Despite man’s advancements of NASA and seeking life on other planets, it’s seeing what’s under the earth’s surface where marine life will help us truly understand our human world.

  • Top 5 BIGGEST Animal Mysteries EVER

    5:40

The Top 5 Biggest Gigantic Animal Mysteries in the world / earth include a modern day Kraken bigger than the colossal squid, the biggest snake ever at an estimated 200 ft., a possible Megalodon, a massive dinosaur like lizard known as the Megalania that roams Australia, and more.

    5) The USS Stein Monster

It was 1976 and the USS Stein headed into port after it's SONAR system had experienced failure. Upon closer inspection at the port, the special rubber protective coating of the ship's SONAR dome had cuts as long as 4 feet across. Within many of those cuts, the remains of sharp, curved claws were found - the type of claws associated with giant squid attacks.

However, these claw marks, measuring at around 4 feet across were much, much larger than any known squid previously discovered. Due to the size of these marks, it was speculated that whatever had done this damage could measure up to 150ft in length.

    4) The Bloop

In 1997, multiple underwater microphones known as hydrophones picked up an extremely loud sound across a range of over 3000 miles. The sound was given the name The Bloop. The audio profile of the sound does resemble that of a living creature, except for the fact that it was many times louder than that of the loudest known creature, the blue whale....leaving the possibility open that a creature could exist much larger or at the very least louder than the blue whale. Others hypothesize that the sound was actually caused by a large icequake in Antartica...but the true source remains unknown.

However, it was hypothesized that the sound was actually a large icequake in Antartica, which also tend to share similar audio profiles to that of the Bloop noise. However, due to the ambiguity of it matching certain traits of both animal and icequake audio profiles, the true source of the Bloop noise remains unknown.

    3) Mystery Animal that Ate a 9-foot Great White Shark

In Australia, scientists had tagged a particular 9 foot great white shark with a tracking device as part of a program to learn more about these beasts. After a few months, the scientists discovered their tracking device had washed ashore. Something had killed and eaten the great white shark.

The tracking device's data revealed a sudden rise in temperature which would indicate it was in something's digestive track coupled with a sudden 2000 foot dive into some of the deepest depths of the ocean....the device, or whatever creature it was in would then ascend and descend these great depths over the next few days until the device had been excreted.

What predator lies in the deep and eats great white sharks with such ferocity?

    2) The Megalania

The Megalania is a massive lizard thought to have gone extinct some 30,000 years ago. It's like the much, much bigger brother to the giant Komodo dragon of today's time - imagine a lizard the size of a school bus...and maybe even bigger.

Interestingly, quite a bit of evidence suggests that they still exist. There's numerous anecdotal reports of sightings of the beast...watch the linked video to learn more about them....and then there's evidence a researcher named Rex Gordon has collected. He's collected and plastered nearly 30 footprints that match the beast exactly. Add this to the fact that some recent Megalania bones have been dated to be only 300 years old and there's a good chance there really may be a giant lizard roaming the Australian outback.

    1) Colonel Remy Van Lierd's Giant Snake Photo

During World War Two, a very high ranking Belgian fighter pilot and squadron leader named Remy Van Lierd
was on his way back to base from a helicopter mission in the Congo. During his journey back, he was astounded to see an enormous snake winding around on the ground below. He instructed his crew to circle around so as to get a better look at the snake and take some photos...that's when the snake reared back as though it were about to attack the helicopter. Colonel Lierd guessed the snake had to be a minimum of at least 50 feet in length. After several reports like this by others, Lierd's pictures were sent to the CIA headquarters where they were analyzed. It was estimated the snake could have been up to 200 feet long....compare this to the longest snake on record which is around 34 feet in length.

Amazing Optical illusions that will tease your brain
    Subscribe to our channel:

Flat 3rd Dimension and Following eyes video by Brusspup
Includes footage produced by the Royal Institution

    Description:
One of the most fascinating organs in our body is the human brain. You could say that it is central control, or headquarters for our body. Without our brain, we are not alive. The brain is where our consciousness lives and our memories are preserved. If we are considered “brain dead”, then the plug gets pulled on our life support. It is a complex organ of fatty tissue, and the brain helps us process different kinds of information through our five sense. Using our nose, the brain can tell us whether we are experiencing a pleasant smell or something foul. With our ears, the brain can help us process the noises we are hearing and be able to tell the difference from language to noises. With our mouth, the brain helps us figure out whether the food we are eating is good for us and not poisonous. Finally, with our eyes, the brain helps us process the information we are seeing visually. Our brain and our eyes have a beautiful relationship by letting us see colors, nature, people, and more, along with associate these visions with emotions. With such wondrous capabilities, it can be easy to just assume and trust that what our eyes are telling us is true. Well, not exactly.
In the last several centuries, optical illusions have been playing tricks with our brain and causing us to question what is real and what is fiction. Optical illusions can be created by Mother Nature, or they can be manmade, thus creating an entire art dedication to optical illusions and messing with our brain and everything that we know about the world around us. With the innovation and evolution of optical illusions, we are now getting confused more often than ever before! People have even dedicated their lives and support themselves from creating their own optical illusions. These artists even get a kick from us stepping on their painting and thinking that we are about to descend into a multiple story fall, but instead, our foot remains on solid ground.
This video has ten of the most mind blowing optical illusions. They are so crazy that you would think that they were simply a trick of the camera or computer. What makes these optical illusions extra special is the fact that they play with your perception using colors, angles, light, shapes, sizes, and more. Our eyes have been conditioned and groomed to see certain things by the way the light hits an object, or by the way and angle is seen by our eyes. Reality can be manipulated so many ways by a simple tilt of the head or a beam of light, or a splash of color. By breaking down why you are seeing the optical illusion in the first place, we can start descending upon the bridge of understanding. Probably one of the most unsettling things about optical illusions is that the seed of doubt can bleed over to our normal everyday lives and cause us to question everything by just looking outside.

  • Worlds Most Bizarre Waterfalls

    8:12

From bizarre waterfalls that look like blood in Antartica to an unbelievable underwater waterfall in the Republic of Mauritius!

    Subscribe to Talltanic

    8. Bigăr Waterfall
Although it doesn't impress by its size or the way its water flows, the thing that separates this waterfall from all the rest is where it's located at and its unusual shape that is said to take the shape of a huge mushroom. It’s an extension of a cliff that is entirely covered by moss. The Bigăr waterfall, that’s found in Romania, happens to lie directly in a spot that’s between the North Pole and the Equator. What also makes this waterfall unique to others is the way that the water scatters as it falls into the river.

    7. Baatara Gorge Waterfall Lebanon
Falling past three stone bridges that were naturally formed, the Baatara Gorge Waterfall appears to look like something that was specially created for the setting of a mythical world. This spectacular view is only able to be seen during the months of March and April because of the melting snow that causes the waterfall. The drop of the waterfall is measured at being an impressive 225 meters.

    6. Underwater Waterfall
Alright alright! We can see that this one is technically NOT a waterfall, but it’s too amazing not to include it. It’s located off the coast of the Republic of Mauritius and it happens to be just an optical illusion that only makes it seem like there’s a waterfall in the ocean. This illusion is created by the sand and silt that sink deeper into the ocean.

    5. Angel Falls Venezuela
Angel Falls has the contrast of being the world’s highest waterfall that is uninterrupted and even though it’s found in an isolated jungle, it still manages to draw a number of tourists to it each year in Venezuela. It’s measured at being 15 times that of Niagara Falls and was flown over by an American aviator name Jimmy Angel in 1993 and that’s where the falls gets its name from.

    4. Cameron Falls
Cameron Falls happens to be found in Alberta, Canada in Waterton Lake National Park. What’s really interesting about this particular waterfall is that only in the month of June are you able to see the normally clear waters turn into a vibrant pink. This phenomena that’s considered rare occurs during the springtime when the rains stir up a sediment in the lake called argillite. When the light hits this mineral just right, it causes the water to look this pink. This is similar to the same way that light hits the moisture in the air in order to create what we know as a rainbow.

    3. Sticky Waterfalls In Thailand
It’s pretty common that water that flows down rocks have usually slick and slippery surfaces. However, that’s not the case with the Bua Tong Waterfalls that are found in Thailand. Rather, these falls are known for being “sticky” because of a large amount of limestone located underneath. Another main difference is that there is no algae or slime found in these falls. Did you know that because of the huge amount of limestone that it’s possible for people to walk up the falls?

    2. Ruby Falls
Ruby Falls, which is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, happens to be the deepest commercial limestone cave that is found in the entirety of the United States. It’s also the most visited waterfall that is located underground in the whole country with around 400,000 visitors annually. The falls measure at being 145-feet high and was named after Ruby Lambert, who was the wife of the man that discovered the falls. Care not to drink the water! It happens to contain a really high concentration of magnesium, which did you know is a natural laxative? These caves are lighted with special colors to give it a more magical vibe.

    1. Blood Falls
The Blood Falls are located in Antarctica's McMurdo Dry Valley and are measured at being around 5 stories high. The waterfall happens to pour out from the Taylor Glacier right into Lake Bonney. It's pretty clear that there's no real blood that gives the Blood Falls its name. Instead, there is a five-million-year-old subterranean lake that is trapped underneath the glaciers. When the glaciers that were located on top of the lake started to freeze, the water had become incredibly salty. So salty, in fact, that the water that’s located in the subglacial lake has a salt content that is 3 times higher than the oceans and because of this the water isn’t able to freeze.
There happens to be a quarter mile of thick ice that keeps the lake from being in contact with any sunlight whatsoever and has built up a large amount of iron. The reason the water comes out as blood-colored is because the oxygen rusts all the iron once it reaches the surface.

  • 25 Crazy Facts About Black Holes

    7:05

    Tweet this video! -

Much like a black body in thermodynamics, a black hole is a region of space that pulls everything and prevents anything from escaping, even light. The reason it is called a black hole is because it sucks up all the light that hits its border and reflects nothing. Formed when an amply compact mass deforms space and time, a black hole has a defined surface known as the event horizon which marks the point of no return. Little is known about black holes but several scientists in history have developed their own theories about their properties and structures. Here is a list of 25 crazy facts about black holes.

Check out the text version too! -

    Here's a preview:

Gravitational time dilation is possible in black holes
The size of a black hole has no limit
The nearest black hole to the Earth is not actually near
Black holes are suckers but they cannot suck up all
There is a massive black hole at the center of the Milky Way galaxy
    Black holes eventually evaporate
Black holes are not infinitely small
Black holes are not funnel-shaped; they are spheres
    Black holes do spin
Things get weird when they get near a black hole
Getting near a black hole can kill anyone in horrible ways
Black holes are not always black
Black holes are not always dangerous
    Black holes can get big
There are different kinds of black holes
It was not Albert Einstein that discovered black holes
Black holes can be very dense
    Black holes are noisy
Nothing can escape the pull of a black hole
Black holes create elements that make life possible
Black holes do not only swallow but also spit
Any matter can become a black hole
The laws of physics break down at the center of a black hole
There is no tunnel at the center of a black hole
Black holes limit the number of stars

    9. Underwater Falls
Voted one of the most beautiful places on Earth, Mauritius is an island nation in the Indian Ocean. On the Southwestern tip of the island you will find a fascinating illusion. When viewed from above, a runoff of sand and silt deposits creates the impression of an ‘underwater waterfall’.
But did you know there are actually real underwater waterfalls? Seven waterfalls have been discovered deep underwater. The tallest waterfall on Earth is not Angel Falls, but an underwater waterfall called Denmark Strait Cataract located in the Atlantic ocean between Greenland and Iceland. It is the world's highest underwater waterfall, with water falling almost 11,500 feet and carries 175 million cubic feet of water per second.
It is caused due to temperature differences in the water on either side of the strait. Cold water is denser than warm water. And the eastern side of the strait is a lot colder than the western side. So when the waters meet, the cold water sinks below the warmer water, creating a strong downward flow, which is considered a waterfall.
And it's not just waterfalls that are under the ocean. There are huge secret rivers, complete with rapids and islands that flow down the sea shelves out into the desert plains creating river banks and flood plains. Here's a picture of the river Cenote Angelita under the sea of Mexico.
These salty rivers carry sediments and minerals and could be vital in sustaining life. The world's sixth largest river, by volume, is below the Black Sea. It is 350 times larger than the Thames and 150 feet deep in places.
    8. Milky Sea Phenomenon
For over 400 years, sailors told tales of a mysterious event that takes place far out in the Indian Ocean. They would come across miles and miles of milky glowing waters, sometimes stretching as far as the eye could see. In 2005, a group of scientists led by Dr. Steven Miller of the Naval Research Laboratory in Monterey, Calif., decided to take a closer look at this story to see if it was true. They managed to register about 235 observations and get a satellite image that showed an area of low lighting in the Indian Ocean about the size of Connecticut. Their samples that they collected indicated the presence of a type of bioluminescent bacteria in the water, known as Vibrio harveyi. This isn't the same kind of bacteria that you might see in waves that use their bright light to ward off predators. This bioluminescent bacteria may actually use light to attract fish, since its favorite place to live is inside a fish's gut. Scientists' guess is that since they only emit a very faint light on their own, they have to gather together to make an impact. Their collective glow can grow to massive, milky sea proportions when their numbers swell to a huge amount -- think 40 billion trillion. They may also congregate to colonize algae. Sounds like a party! It is still only a guess since Dr. Miller and his colleagues haven't determined exactly what causes the bacteria to gather.
    7. Unexplained sounds
Of course dark, creepy fog can make you jump at anything that goes bump in the night. But what about things that go bloop in the sea? With names like The Bloop, Train and Julia, the sounds have been captured by hydrophones, or underwater microphones, monitored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The decidedly nonspooky nicknames for these sounds do little to dispel the mystery surrounding them. In 1997, NOAA hydrophones 3,000 miles apart picked up one of the loudest sounds ever recorded off the southern coast of South America: the Bloop (which sounds exactly like its name, a bloop). The Bloop mimics marine animal sounds in some ways, but if it were some kind of sea creature it would have to be almost the size of the Eiffel tower for that sound to be heard from 3,000 miles away. So what made the sound? It's anyone's guess but deep-sea monsters aside, NOAA holds the most likely explanation for The Bloop is that it was the sound of a large iceberg fracturing. Sure....
Another weird noise known as Julia sounds almost like someone whining or maybe even singing under water. The eastern equatorial Pacific autonomous array (the fancy name for the network of hydrophones) picked up this strange sound that lasted 15 seconds in 1999.

  • Most Magical Places on Earth

    6:18

From the strange and weird; to the bizarre and unreal; These are the MOST Magical Places on Earth !

Learn about the BIGGEST of everything Monday, Wednesday, and Friday just subscribe!

    # 10 Metolius Balancing Rocks
In general, forest fires are pretty bad, and you usually want to avoid them as much as possible. In this case, a forest fire in the Cave Palisades State Park of Oregon revealed something magical. Previously hidden in the thick brush of forest was a series of rock pillars that had precarious rocks balancing on top of them.

    # 9 Oymyakon
This is possibly the coldest village on earth, positioned deep in Siberia. This village is a few hundred miles from the Arctic Circle and has reached record lows of -96.16 degrees Fahrenheit. There are a hardy permanent residence of about 500 who live in this city that seems like it could only exist with the help of magic.

    # 8 Asik Asik Falls
These waterfalls are actually streams of pristine water that pour down in the mountainous Alamada region of the Philippines. These falls were mostly unknown until a photo of the falls won a national photography contest, after that this magical waterfall garnered a lot of attention.

    # 7 Haughton Impact Crater
About 23 million years ago a meteor hit Earth around where Northern Canada is. What it left behind was a strange, otherworldly landscape. The crater exists in a place called a “frost rubble zone” and is the only crater to exist in such an area.

    # 6 Moher, Ireland
Moher, Ireland might be most famous for these sheer cliffs that face the deep blue ocean. Many people travel across the country to experience this extreme and almost surreal beauty that feels like it has to be photoshopped.

    # 5 Haukadalur Geothermal Field
The Haukadalur valley in Southern Iceland has a bona fide showstopper that performs on time everyday. This Geothermal Field is home to Geysir and Strokkur, two hot spring geysers that erupt with a fantastic crystal blue explosion of water every 10 to 15 minutes.

    # 4 Tatami Rocks
This strange rock formation can be found in Kumejima-Cho, Japan and are named Tatami-ishi or the Tatami rocks because they have formed a shape that resembles a tatami mat. They actually formed into these hexagonal shapes because andesite magma cooled in a specific way and water eroded the top and created a smooth texture.

    # 3 Pravcice Gate
Europe’s largest natural bridge is this massive sandstone arch that has attracted visitors to it for as long as it has existed. It can be found on the border of Germany and stretches 90 feet wide and 50 feet high. The chateau nearby was once used as an inn for dignitaries and diplomats, and although it no longer functions like that anymore, it has been preserved as a restaurant and museum dedicated to the history of the area.

    # 2 The Bastei
What used to be an impenetrable fortress now lies in ruins on top of huge towering stone pillars and can still be visited to this day. Rising several feet into the air and commanding a sight of Germany that is incomparable.

    # 1 Magic Forest of Shanghai
This forest in China can easily be described as magical although it is obviously man made. It features tempting pools of water and trees wrapped in green and white lights, creating a sparkling fairy tale scene.

  • Craziest Things Found By Airport Security

Crazy illegal items, weapons and creatures withheld at airport security

    Description:
For any of us that have flown in an airplane, we know that air travel is one of the biggest headaches known to man. In addition to the extraordinarily high ticket prices, most of us also have to pay a luggage fee, along with convenient upgrades, plus the overpriced airport food. And if you want to check a bag, you’re confined to numerous rules and restrictions to what you can and can’t bring. Of course, with all of the recent terrorist attacks and September 11th, many are skittish about the intentions of other passengers, so the Transportation Security Administration was created in 2001 in order to help secure the airways and ports in the United States. But despite the presence of the TSA, people will still try to smuggle in odd things that are not limited to, but including drugs, animals, bugs, plants, and more.
For example, a woman was stopped in an airport in Melbourne when it was noticed that she was making strange and watery noises. Security then gave her a more detailed pat down and discovered that she have over 51 different kinds of exotic and tropical fish under her clothes in 15 little bags, stored in pockets. If that wasn’t bizarre enough, a total of eighteen severed heads were discovered in shipment at O’Hare in Chicago, which of course made the media go crazy with the headlines. It was later discovered that the heads were in the process of a legitimate shipment between medical facilities in Rome and Chicago. Talk about people losing their head over something that ended up being legitimate!
While you’re on vacation, of course there is always that one souvenir that you can’t resist bringing home with you. One traveler was out scuba diving and discovered a coral-covered cannonball in the midst of an 18th century shipwreck. Even though the traveler’s intentions were purely innocent, the airport had to shut down and be evacuated, since cannonballs are considered to be explosives.
Then of course people just have to fly with their animals and plants. One man was discovered to have brought 30 dead snakes that were venomous, from his trip to South Korea. Was he trying to bring home a souvenir? Or needed supplies to create a deadly poison? Then a woman was discovered to have packed a (sedated) 2 month old tiger cub in her suitcase. She was arrested and the cub was taken to a sanctuary for tigers. Speaking of animals, a man was also stopped in Los Angeles after an exotic bird flew from his suitcase. He also had 50 rare orchids as well as hid two monkeys in his pants.
And of course, people will try to smuggle drugs in. One guy actually had a real broken legs and managed to create a cast made from eleven pounds of cocaine. He might have been able to have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for the additional cocaine that was found in his bag.
