Notes about Citra: At this point in its development, Citra is still a very early and experimental emulator. Quite a few games run fairly well, but there are a lot of graphical and audio issues. Tons of progress has been made recently, and you can expect that to continue in the near future. Basically, don't expect it to run perfectly.

Today, I'll be showing you how to make your DSiWare ROMs Region Free and convert them to CIA. Use these with the TWL_FIRM CIA. It will not work with normal NDS ROMs! It must be DSiWare, which is why I've included my own folder!

---TUTORIAL---
1. Get a .nds DSiWare ROM. I have a link below.
2. Download make_cia.exe.
3. Put your ROM and make_cia.exe in the same folder, and name your rom 'game.nds'.
4. Download HxD, and then open up your .nds ROM in it.
5. Go to offset 1B0 and change the following 4 bytes (8 hex values) to FFFFFFFF.
6. Save the file.
7. Go back so you can see the folder, and hold 'Shift' and right click on the folder.
8. Press 'Open Command Windows here'.
9. Type make_cia --srl=game.nds
10. Done! Install that CIA however you want!

Usage Instructions
1) Download the homebrew and extract it in a folder.
2) Open files folder and place here a video file named as video.mp4 (it can be also another format but it should be renamed as video.mp4).
3) (Optional) Replace icon.png, banner.png and audio.wav with your own files (Wav files must be 3 seconds or less).
4) Start build.bat script and follow screen instructions
5) Profit!

Tips & Warnings
- Unique_ID allowed range is 0x0 to 0xFFFFFF.
- Cinema Mode will reduce battery usage (due to screen backlight power-off for bottom screen).
- Cinema Mode will slightly boost framerate (due to bottom screen rendering disabling).

Converting 3DS to CIA used to be very hard & tedious... Not anymore. With this new tool by Riku from GBAtemp, converting 3DS to CIA is very simple! No more Python scripts, installations, ROM rebuilding... Just 4 files are needed! Launcher.dat, ncchinfo.bin, your 3DS ROM, and a XORPAD file. This won't require any flashcart, but may require a Custom Firmware or downgraded 3DS. Without further ado, let's get started with the tutorial!

--TUTORIAL--
Follow this written one or the video to guide you.
1) Download 3DS to CIA Simple Converter program attached to this post. ZIP or RAR. (I used RAR; they're the same thing)
2) Extract it anywhere. Use 7-zip or WinRAR if downloading the RAR archive.
3) Run the .exe program.
4) Click 'Create ncchinfo.bin file' and select your 3DS ROM. Save the 'ncchinfo.bin' file to your SD Card. Don't rename it.
5) Download the 'Launcher.dat' if you're running 4.x firmware. Use ( rxTools -- Click Link ) if you are running firmware 5.x through 9.2.0. All regions are supported.
6 DS Profile Exploit) Run the Launcher.dat by going to Settings -- Other Settings -- Profile Settings -- Nintendo DS Profile Settings with the DS Profile Exploit installed. If you don't have that installed or don't know how to install it, ( this video -- Click Link ) will guide you through on how to install the DS Profile Exploit. It's towards the beginning of the video. Don't watch all of it; only the first few minutes will help you install the DS Profile Exploit.
6 rxTools) Do whatever rxTools requires you to do to generate the XORPAD files. I'm not familiar with it, so you won't get much support from me.
7) Eject your SD Card and insert it into your computer.
8) View the files on the SD Card. A file named *game id*.Main.exheader.xorpad should be on there. If it isn't, then the XORPADs were not generated properly.
9) Run the 3DS to CIA exe program once again. Click 'Convert 3DS ROM to CIA' and select your 3DS ROM, the *game id*.Main.exheader.xorpad file, and the output CIA file.
10) Click 'OK' at the final prompt.
11) Wait for the conversion to finish. This would take anywhere from 5 seconds to 5 minutes.
12) Click 'OK' to the messagebox that says Finished! and close out of the program.
13) Done! You've successfully made a CIA installation file from your 3DS ROM. Install it using DevMenu, BigBlueMenu, or BigRedMenu.

Q: Will this brick by 3DS?
A: This specifically: No. Installing CIA: Probably not, but it's possible. Installing CFW: It's a possibility, but once again, probably not.

Q: Why can't I use rxTools on 4.x?
A: You can, but running the Launcher.dat is much simpler.

Q: I have a firmware higher 9.2.0... What should I do?
A: Buy a new 3DS. There's nothing you can do. This will only work on 2.0.0 - 9.2.0. Don't ask in the comments what firmware this'll work on.

For this video, I'll be showing you how to install legit CIA files on a firmware above 9.2. This includes 9.9, 10.3, or any other firmware above 9.2. A legit file is signed by a game company. This EXCLUDES ROM hacks, translations, and 3DS to CIA converted files. Google {game name} legit cia file {region} and you'll likely find a few. Watch the video or read the written tutorial below. This is a very glitchy process at the time of making this video, but it will likely get better as time goes on.

---TUTORIAL---
1. Download FBI using the link below.
2. Unzip FBI and copy it to the '3ds' folder on the root of your SD Card.
3. Download a legit CIA, or make one yourself.
4. Copy the CIA to your SD Card.
5. Eject your SD Card and put it into your 3DS.
6. Boot up your preferred method of using The Homebrew Launcher
7. Open up FBI. If it freezes before saying Done!, restart your 3DS.
8. Once it successfully loads, press 'A'.
9. Use the D-pad to select your CIA and press 'A' to install it.
10. Press 'A' to confirm installation.
11. Wait for it to finish installing.
12. Press 'Start' to finish.
13. Your CIA is now installed! Exit FBI and it should be installed on your home menu!

This is the easiest way to decrypt, edit (add / change files) and rebuild ROMs as .3ds or .3dz. No .rsf's or anything, it's simple. 4.x - 9.2.

Many people seem to think this is a virus, but here's proof it's not (read a few posts down):

Trago a vocês o mais novo método de converter roms .3DS para CIA sem a necessidade de xorpads, e nem do PC, pela ferramenta Decrypt9.

Muitas vezes saem jogos em .3DS e você não acha versão CIA para baixar ou upado em servidor ruim, você mesmo pode baixar e converter seu CIA.

O jogo ou os jogos .3DS precisam ser colocados na pasta:

Wii U Emulator : Cemu 1.8.0 (Patreon Build)
Ram usage has been reduced by 30% (Nvidia User Only) . Now we don't need to have 12GB or 16GB of Ram , 8GB of Ram is fine for Xenoblade X(See Benchmark)

Nvidia also helps us to reduce Ram Usage further . 4GB~6GB of Ram might be enough in the near future :) . Zelda BOTW probably still need 8GB though


In order to reduce Ram Usage , Cemu has to use new shader cache system . From now on , all old shader cache won't work with Cemu

How to get full speed without overclocking :

_If you're Nvidia user , please open Nvidia Control Panel and navigate to Manage 3D Settings . There is 2 options you must look for : Thread Optimization and Power management mode .

Set Thread Optimization = On , Power management mode = Prefer Maximum Performance

_Download Shader Cache for Xenoblade X . Here is mine (5.5k atm):



Keep in mind that my shader cache was created with Nvidia GPU . If you have ATI/AMD GPU... Do not download this , please build your own shader cache !

Also , This Shader Cache is only usable with EUR version of the game . If you have US version , please rename it . Normally , shader cache should have the same name with SaveDir data , 232734a5.bin for example

Nvidia GTX 860M 2GB (GPU Usage : 50~60% , only 600~800MB out of 2GB VRAM )

Also tested this game on my friend's PC : Intel Pentium G4560 @
3.5GHz + GTX 1050 , 30FPS no lag so far so good :)
